In high performance/player development, 2008 USPTA/ITA Touring Coach of the Year, Robert Gomez has enjoyed tremendous success with his top juniors. Whether in Florida or Colorado, Tier One Tennis is sure to provide elite players with the kind of training they need to reach their full potential. "Robert is a real hands-on type of coach, his travel coaching me at big tournaments has made a huge difference in my game" said Paul Koenke, (ranked #9 in the US boy's 16's 2003). With a strong emphasis on skill fundamentals, tactical clarity and peak performance during tournament play, Robert's students have been ranked number one in both Florida and the Intermountain sections.

At the national level, his students have reached rankings as high as number one in the US. In international play, his students have been ranked as high as number twelve in the ITF World Rankings and number three in the European Rankings. Adds Gomez, "if talent alone could get you to the top, a lot more players would be doing well. It takes careful planning, hard work and experience to reach those goals".

A careful and extensive player development plan is formulated at the beginning of each season to insure proper performance and results goals are in place. This plan will include a current evaluation, training regimen, goal setting and a tournament schedule. "Having a plan made things so much clearer to me and that gave me more confidence" Melissa Applebaum, former world ranked junior and All-American at the University of Miami and current Women’s Head Coach at Florida International University.

A balance between skills work and match play is essential in maximizing your potential. Stress something too much and it will break, don't stress it enough and it will go soft. At Tier One Tennis we make sure that our players find that balance between hard work and smart work. Players are encouraged to embrace the battle and having fun doing it. This is the only way for long term growth.
